The Music of James Taylor & Carole King is being celebrated in a brand-new show touring Scottish theatres this week. Witness the heart-warming story intertwined with the music that shaped a generation.

New Galleries

Social media has been buzzing this week over the ten new galleries at the National Museum of Scotland. They’re open from Friday, July 8, with free entry. Catch our preview here!

The Scottish Open

Head towards Inverness this weekend for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart, Ardersier. Public Bar, Exhibition area, Merchandise and Catering Outlets.

Family Races

Perth Racecourse is hosting a Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 10, with racing for the adults and free activities in the Action Glen Extravaganza for the kids. Some food stands, but you’re best to pack a picnic.

Folk Fest

Stonehaven comes alive from July 7 until July 10 with free afternoon concerts, workshops, a ceilidh, and a family show. Look out your swimming costumes, too, to dance the “Splashing White Sergeant” at the Aqua Ceilidh!

Highland Games

There are two great Highland Games happening on Saturday, July 9, so head along to your closest one for all the traditional fayre: piping, dancing and tug-o-war. Forres in Moray or Strathmore in Glamis.

Heb Celt

The Hebridean Celtic Festival kicks off on Wednesday, July 13, with a Community Day featuring Gaelic Song workshops and the Allison Lupton Band.

Mair Golf!

Hot on the tails of the Scottish Open is The 145th Open. Returning to Royal Troon this year it runs from Sunday, July 10, until Sunday, July 17. Weekly, Daily, Greenside, Grandstand and Twilight tickets available, and free camping for under 25s.

Dolphin Watch

The RSPB are on Dolphinwatch at the moment at Torry Battery, near Aberdeen, and this weekend (9-10) they’re hosting a Family Fun Weekend. Join them for crafts, games and face-painting – and, of course, to watch the dolphins.

Planetarium Lates

Reach the stars and beyond with Planetarium Lates at Glasgow Science Centre on Saturday, July 10. Fly on a tour of the cosmos with live presenter-led shows, with the latest astrological discoveries.
