The only tearooms designed inside and out by Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Located in the very heart of Glasgow, the Willow Tea Rooms are a prime example of Mackintosh architecture.
Currently closed for renovation, the tearoom is on Glasgow’s bustling Sauchiehall Street. The building is due to reopen this year to celebrate Mackintosh’s 150th birthday.
It is the only tearoom in the world to be designed both inside and out by Mackintosh. Kate Cranston, an entrepreneurial local business woman and daughter of a Glasgow tea merchant, influenced his designs.
The tearooms are popular both with local and international tourists alike, and it is hoped that the renovations will . The addition of a visitor centre means tourists can explore Mackintosh in further depth.
