A-Z of Secret Inverness-shire: T
Tweed!
If you’re just itching to dress like a Highland laird in some trendy-again tweeds, there’s only one place to head for: Campbell’s of Beauly.
Established in 1858, they specialise in countrywear and knitwear and have their own tailoring staff offering bespoke suits and Highland dress.
With huge wooden counters sporting giant pairs of scissors and shelves heaving with rolls of tweeds and tartans this is a wonderfully traditional shop full of character and characters.
The company are known as “the guardians of tweed” and held a Royal Warrant to kit out the Queen Mother. Campbell’s recently changed hands for the first time in their 158-year history but the new owners are keen to preserve the heritage of this unique, tweedy time warp of a store.
Campbell’s of Beauly, Highland Tweed House, High Street, Beauly, Inverness-Shire IV4 7BU.
