Scotland’s first Alpine Coaster is due to open at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre this Saturday, September 14.

The 980 metre long track will take riders one by one on a winding downhill adventure and is a first for Scotland.

Located at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre in Hillend, it is the longest of its kind in the UK, and it’s expected to attract up to 150,000 visitors per year.

The ride is interactive so you will be able to control the speed, which hits a maximum of 28mph.

It was unveiled on Wednesday, September 11. However, the attraction will officially open to the public on Saturday, September 14.

The coaster is part of the Destination Hillend project and completes Phase one. The project aim is to “build a year-round, family-orientated, multi-activity leisure attraction to improve and safeguard the future of Midlothian Snowsports Centre.”
