Europe’s largest wave pool has just opened in Scotland! The Lost Shore Surf Resort is already making big waves in the tourism sector as Scotland’s first inland surf resort.

Lost Shore Surf Resort officially launched last week. This multi-million pound attraction wants to make surfing a safer and more accessible sport, with a strong emphasis on improving the mental health of young people.

Located in Ratho near Edinburgh, this £60 million development features Europe’s largest and most advanced wave pool, powered by Wavegarden technology.

Founder Andy Hadden envisions the resort not only as a training ground for athletes, but also as an inclusive space for anyone who would love to give surfing a go for the first time.

With the ability to produce up to 1,000 customizable waves per hour, Scotland’s first inland surf resort caters to surfers of all levels, from beginners to professionals. The facility also prides itself in its sustainable approach, such as offering eco-friendly wetsuits and surfboards.

Beyond surfing, the resort hosts the Surfskate Academy, which provides dry-land training that mimics wave riding.

The Lost Shore Surf Resort has also partnered with surf therapy charity The Wave Project to provide mental health support to young people. In addition to this, there are a variety of wellness amenities to choose from, including the Spear Sauna and luxury treatments.

Visitors can also enjoy some fine dining at the waterfront Canteen, where seasonal dishes are served from renowned Scottish eateries like Five March and Civerinos.
