Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail
Dundee’s largest ever public art event has launched throughout the city and beyond.
Over 55 statues of the much-loved DC Thomson comic character, Oor Wullie, have been installed across Dundee and Tayside, each hand-painted with a different theme.
Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail includes a Tim Peake-inspired “Astro Wullie” outside the Dundee Science Centre, and a David Bowie tribute, “Oor Bowie, Your Bowie, A’body’s Bowie”, at the Rail Bridge.
There’s also a Dundee Marmalade inspired Wullie, and a Tunnocks Teacake one!
Find All 55 Statues!
Be warned: as with any collection, a quick trip to find one or two can escalate rather quickly.
My friend and I went to get a picture with the “Dun Deagh and the 5 Glens” statue on top of Dundee Law, and two hours later we were still going, having found and snapped nine more!
Download the trail map, here, to see the locations – from Dundee Airport to Carnoustie Golf Links.
The Bucket Trail will be in place for the next ten weeks to raise money for The ARCHIE Foundation‘s Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Each sculpture has been sponsored by a business or organisation, and at the end of the trail, in September, all the sculptures will be sold at an auction in Dundee.
All proceeds will go towards new installations at the Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells.
