Loony Dook 2015: Take the Plunge
Registration for the New Year’s Day Loony Dook at South Queensferry is now open.
Over 1,000 ‘Dookers’, clad in fancy dress costumes ranging from the weird to the wonderful and cheered on by over 4,000 spectators will welcome in the New Year with a splash in the icy cold water of the River Forth in the shadow of the world-famous Forth Bridges.
The Loony Dook, which this year is supported by the City of Edinburgh Council, EventScotland and Scotland’s Winter Festivals, has been held at South Queensferry for 26 years and has been a core part of the Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival for the last 5 years.
“For years, around 1,000 of the bravest revellers have taken part in the Loony Dook – an icy cold plunge in the Firth of Forth on January 1.”Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh Council
