Big Bang Weekend
Explore man’s obsession with technology in Wigtown next week, at the Big Bang Weekend where the 200-year-old Frankenstein’s monster and the driverless car will both loom large! Running February 2-4, the weekend will provide inspiring talks by leading scientists and authors, plus comedy, music, film, cabaret, food and drink.
Sondheim’s Company
At Aberdeen Arts Centre from February 1, comes the Broadway musical Company, with a cast of West End stars. With music and lyrics from Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, Company is widely regarded as a trailblazing concept musical, exploring modern relationships. A Play, A Poet & A Pastry
You’re in for a treat at Scotland’s oldest working theatre on Friday, January 26, with the third A Play, A Poet, and A Pastry evening. In the Theatre Royal, Dumfries, Giles Conisbee, from Pitlochry, will present his new play Freckle, and police officer turned poet Joanne McKay will respond in poetry afterwards, provoking a live post-performance discussion.
Knives In Hens
Now the most internationally performed modern Scottish play next to JM Barrie’s Peter Pan, Knives in Hens returns to Perth Theatre, also from Thursday, February 1. Dark and hard-hitting, the one-act play by one of Scotland’s foremost playwrights will capture the imagination and stay in the memory long after its performance.
Lego Jacobites
Last chance to catch the brilliant lego scene at Stirling Castle, featuring Historic Scotland’s own Corgarff Castle and Ruthven Barracks as well as over 2000 soldiers, Cairngorm mountain range, a Highland village, fortifications, Scottish wildlife and one or two surprises. Pop in to view it before it gets dismantled on February 3.
