1. Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld
A number of magnificent internal sets were created there, including Master Raymond’s intricate apothecary and Prince Charles’ preferred brothel, Maison Elise.
The interior of Jared Fraser’s chic Parisian apartment, where Jamie and Claire stay while they’re in France, was also painstakingly created in Cumbernauld.
2. Duncarron

When location scouts were searching for the perfect place to double as the famous French-built fort of Ticonderoga – which is actually located in northern New York – Duncarron Medieval Village was ideal.
Not only was the fortified fort in Falkirk like an already-made set, it also had links to the film industry.
3. Midhope Castle

This lesser-known Scottish castle located just a few minutes’ drive from Blackness Castle on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, appeared on Outlander as Lallybroch.
4. Cambusmore in Perthshire
The charming location used in Outlander’s sixth season for Fraser’s Ridge, the North Carolina property used by Claire and Jamie Fraser.
5. Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore, Cairngorms National Park
The filming took place here in March 2014 and footage shot at the township – an exact replica of the former settlement of Raitts – appeared on season one, episode five later that year.
When Dougal is out collecting rent money from the MacKenzie lands, with Claire and Jamie in tow, he visits a village and secretly raises money for Prince Charlie.
6. Glasgow’s West End

The ribbed arches and fluted columns of Glasgow University were used to film key scenes in the series in summer and winter 2016, by representing Harvard University where Frank works as a professor.
In the series, the location is referred to as the “Robinson Cloisters”, yet at Harvard there are no areas of architecture of similar style.
7. Culross

You simply cannot do an Outlander tour without setting foot here. The small town in Fife starred as the village of Cranesmuir in season one. Locations are everywhere you look – and the filmmakers hardly had to change a thing.
In a remarkable display of historic conservation headed by the National Trust for Scotland, this late medieval town remains much the same as it was in the 17th century.
8. Falkland

Of all the filming locations used throughout the Outlander series, Falkland has been the most consistent, mainly starring as 1960s Inverness.
We first see it on Claire and Frank’s honeymoon, way back in season one. Remember when Frank sees a ghostly Highlander by the fountain looking up at Claire?
9. Linlithgow Palace

Its popularity has been growing steadily, especially since its role as Wentworth Prison in Outlander.

After Jamie and Ian were ambushed by redcoats in season one, episode 13, The Watch, Jamie is taken to Wentworth, where he stands trial and is sentenced to hang.
10. Drummond Castle and Gardens

if you’re in Crieff, don’t miss the chance to visit the setting of a long-awaited Outlander reunion. It was the moment we’d all been waiting for in season two – the return of “Black Jack” Randall.
It played out in the perfectly manicured grounds of the Palace of Versailles, but of course, filming of the episode Untimely Resurrection didn’t really take place in King Louis XV’s back garden.
Instead, Drummond Castle near Crieff swapped its Gaelic air for a distinctly Gallic one.
