StAnza 2021, Scotland’s Poetry Festival
March 6-14
From St Andrews to wherever you choose to watch from as the full festival programme goes online. The 2021 programme, most of which is offered on a ‘Pay What You Can’ basis to make it accessible to all. Enjoy a mix of readings, visual art, children events and even a number of free events.
Scottish Opera On Screen
Available to stream
Scottish Opera’s growing virtual theatre show section – which includes the online premiere of Hansel and Gretel – is online now and readily available to stream. The including brand new commissions from contemporary music makers, re-workings of much-loved favourites and staged concert performances.
Monday Night Improv
Online every Monday
Get ready to laugh as the famous Stand Comedy Club in Glasgow heads online for a weekly evening of hilarious and fast-paced improvisation. The power is in your hands as you suggest funny scenes and circumstances in the live comments section for comics like Billy Kirkwood, Marjolein Robertson, Stu & Garry and MC Hammersmith to act out, as they compete for the most laughs. Tune in at 9.30pm every Monday night on their Facebook page and watch some top class comics for free from the comfort of your own sofa
HippFest
March 17-21
HippFest remains Scotland’s only fully silent film festival, and this year it’s heading online. The festival has run at the Hippodrome cinema in Bo’ness since 2011, and this year a top selection of classic silent films will be broadcasted online from here, alongside performances from musicians and other workshops. HippFest is just the tonic for any fan of classic cinema, or anyone who can’t wait to get back to the silver screen.
