Team Scotland’s First Female Flag Bearer!
Eilidh Doyle has made history this week by being chosen as Scotland’s first female flag bearer at the Commonwealth Games
Eilidh was chosen by her fellow team members to lead them at the opening ceremony, as Scotland enters Carrara Stadium on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The announcement tops off a fantastic year for the athlete. She was chosen captain of the Great Britain team for the 2017 World Championships, then became Scotland’s most decorated athlete with her silver medal win. This took her medal tally up to 13 across World, European, Olympic and Commonwealth competition.
The XXI Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast will begin with a glittering opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 4, welcoming thousands of fans, athletes and officials.
Carrying the flag for Team Scotland will be a special moment for Eilidh Doyle, who told The Scots Magazine that this will probably be her last Games.
