Rapunzel gets a fantastical makeover in Pitlochry.

1. The Great Tapestry of Scotland Talk

Learn about the making of The Great Tapestry of Scotland with Andrew Crummy, the artist and designer of the project. In this fascinating talk at Birnam Arts and Conference Centre, Crummy will discuss the whole process from conception to the finished product currently on display at Stirling Castle.

 

2. Brendan Cole – A Night To Remember

Strictly Come Dancing’s Brendan Cole will arrive in Scotland from the 24 February- 1 March with his big band and dance extravaganza A Night to Remember. A cast of 14 musicians and 8 professional dancers will be performing music from across the eras and bringing all your favourite Strictly dances to the stage.

 

3. St Columba’s Hospice Fashion Show

Get ready for an evening of glamour and style with the St Columba’s Hospice on the 26th February. The charity will be showcasing the Spring/Summer collection of Sylvia Calder at its very own fundraising fashion show at the Surgeon’s Hall, Edinburgh. Expect clothes, cake and champagne!

 

4. Dave Finnegans Commitments

Remember the music from the film The Commitments with a star from the motion picture itself. Dave Finnegans, who played the part of the mad drummer, will be at Craigtay Hotel, Dundee for this very special event.

 

5. Hina Matsuri Japanese Festival

Scottish charity Hino Matsuri will be bringing a taste of Japanese culture to Glasgow’s Kibble Palace on February 28th. Check out a spot of taiko drumming, try your hand at origami, sample some Asian sweets or test out some Japanese fashion. Be sure to also catch a drumming performance from pupils at Hillhead Primary School.

 

6. BalletLorent -Rapunzel

Classic fairytale Rapunzel is brought to life in spectacular fashion this week at the Pitlochy Festival Theatre on the 27th and 28th February. Conceived by former poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Doctor Who composer Murray Gold, and Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton, expect a deliciously dark production that will enthrall adults and children alike.

 

7. Glasgow Gin Club Tasting Session

Discover the Hidden Lane Tearoom, Glasgow, this Friday (27th) and treat yourself to a gin tasting session. Glasgow’s first Gin Club will be on hand with 4 different gins to try from. How about a tipple of Botanist or a nip of Strathearn Heather gin?

 

8. Artisan and Collectors Fair

Experience a new shopping experience to Dundee with the Artisan and Collectors Fair at The Bonar Hall on Sunday 1 March (11am). Embrace all things handmade from food and drink, art, knits, upcycled furniture and jewellery. The event will also be accompanied by refreshments supplied by Ms Battenberg’s Travelling Tearoom.

 

9. Mulan – The Musical

Bejing Olympic Ceremony performers, The Red Poppies, will bring a dazzling re-telling of the legend of Mulan to the Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, on March 1. The story of the fearless protagonist is told through a combination of drumming, classical Chinese music, kung fu and dance.

 

10. Family Craft Workshop

Have a go at screen printing, pottery and enamelling this Sunday (1 March) with Edinburgh’s Contemporary Crafts Centre. Kids and families can now attend a workshop so it’s the perfect opportunity to get crafty and create a great keepsake.
