Bloom

The Edinburgh International Festival kicks off on Friday, August 4, and The Standard Life Opening Event: Bloom will look back and celebrate the creativity and achievements of this world-class Festival in a dazzling display at St Andrews Square. Tickets and info here.

Skye Festival

The Skye Festival, or Fèis an Eilein, is a celebration of the island’s culture and impressive performing arts portfolio. Expect Scottish traditional music, theatre, jazz, ceilidhs and more at venues throughout the Sleat peninsula, and running throughout August.

Scottish Drinks Festival!

Tickets are still available for the inaugural Scottish Drinks Festival in the Briggait, Glasgow! There are four sessions running across Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6, so book online to sample beverages from over 150 Scottish brands!

Drifters

Jason Singh provides a live soundtrack to John Grierson’s seminal 1929 silent documentary Drifters in its Following The Fleet tour for 2017, beginning in Leith on Saturday, August 5 before re-tracing the historic route down Britain’s east coast following the journey of the drifter fleets.

Edinburgh Fringe

Experience the creative energy that fills Edinburgh’s streets as artists and performers set up from around the globe to entertain from August 4. Don’t forget to pick up our August issue to find Gayle Anderson’s top picks of the best new and established acts on the Fringe circuit.

Pittenween Arts

The wee FIfe town is welcoming over 100 artists to exhibit their creative projects in quirky venues at the Pittenweem Arts Festival! Take your time to explore the picturesque location too from August 5 and discover the sculpture trail by blacksmiths ArtFe.

Arbroath Seafest

This popular festival celebrating Arbroath’s maritime heritage runs across August 5 and 6, so head to harbour for your fill of traditional smokies and ice cream (perhaps not together) while admiring the wares of local craft stalls and the site of restored historic Fifie herring drifter, The Reaper.
