1. Enter the Magical World of Roald Dahl

James And The Giant Peach is the fabulous Christmas show at Dundee Rep this year. From now until December 31, follow James, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird and Earthworm on their transatlantic voyage, with lots of singing, dancing and laughter (and a few tears!).

2. Cosy Up For A Storytelling Session

Every weekend from now until February 28, cosy up with Edinburgh Zoo for a Panda Storytelling Session. Join Chi Chi, a little panda with a big appetite, as he embarks on an enchanting adventure, meeting new friends along the way! Suitable for youngsters aged 5 and below. Free with admission.

3. Get Your Game On

Featuring over a hundred games, from December 5 until April 20, the National Museum of Scotland‘s Games Master exhibition explores the development of videogames through interviews with game designers, rare original game artwork and interactives. Experience the games of yesteryear, as well as looking at how independently-produced games and Scottish pioneers are leading the way.

4. Viva Vintage!

On December 6, Dundee City Vintage Festival will provide a snapshot of times gone by at the Marryat Hall. From 10am, over 20 stalls will display their vintage wares, and there will also be a fashion show, live music by up and coming local singers, and ‘pop-up’ make-up and hair.

5. Boo, Hiss and Cheer!

This Christmas, to celebrate 50 years of panto at the King’s Theatre, Peter Pan is flying in! From December 6 until January 11, River City favourite Scott Fletcher reaches new heights in the title role, alongside Joanne McGuiness as Wendy. Greg McHugh, star of Gary Tank Commander and Fresh Meat, takes on the role of Smee, Luther actor Warren Brown is the dastardly Captain Hook, while Capital FM presenter Des Clarke makes a hearty return as Starkey.

6. Soak up The Christmas Atmosphere

Come to the Christmas Fair at Blairadam Forest near Kelty in Fife on December 6. Listen to a yarn or two from our storyteller, taste some local venison, try your hand at Christmas crafts and buy your real Christmas tree – and don’t forget to explore the forest on our special Christmas trail.

7. Experience A Celtic Rock Fusion!

If you haven’t experienced Scotland’s very own Red Hot Chilli Pipers live, now could be the perfect chance. The band will be bringing its inimitable brand of Celtic rock to Aberdeen Musical Hall on the evening of Saturday, December 6.

8. Grab Christmas By The Antlers

On December 6 and 7, The National Trust for Scotland’s House of Dun plays host to Santa and Mrs Claus for a festive family fun event. Get crafty with the kids with an array of fun activities from face painting to storytelling or explore the beautiful grounds and help Santa track down his mischievous reindeer.

9. Go Christmas Shopping

On December 7, Kingussie’s Christmas Festival swings into town. Enjoy music and story-telling, candyfloss, pony and trap rides alongside a spot of Christmas shopping – and at 4pm, the High Street will fill with pipers in full Highland regalia for the Christmas Lights switch on.

10. Step Back In Time

Be sure to mark December 7 on your festive calendar if you fancy some Medieval Merriment at Stirling Castle. The royal court will host a medieval feast from 12.30pm – 3.30pm and an evening of traditional entertainment with music, dancing and games. Free with admission.
