Big Burns Supper!
The week-long festival is back in Dumfries from Friday, January 20. Expect carnivals, a Haggis Hunt, an appearance by Lulu, award-winning show Le Haggis, and a variety of music acts celebrating Burns in style. Line-up, here.
Edge at Verdant Works
A new, free contemporary textile exhibition from Edge Textiles comes to Dundee’s Verdant Works from Saturday, January 21. The work on display has been inspired by the jute industry and its legacy on the city.
Strathpuffer!
On Saturday, January 21 “probably the best winter 24 hour mountain bike race in the Scottish Highlands” begins in Strathpeffer. Head down to cheer on the cyclists on their laps of the 11 km course.
Red Red Rose Street
A new festival of Burns’ music and words runs from Saturday, January 21, to Friday, 27. The week-long celebration animates Rose Street into a literary trail with live entertainment and family-friendly fun. Full line-up here.
Fundraising Ceilidh
The Steve Carcary ceilidh band will get those toes tapping at Milnathort Town Hall on Friday, January 20. Expect stovies, an auction and a raffle, too, at this fundraiser for Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland. Tickets £12 on the door.
Play In A Day!
Have you ever fancied trying your hand at playwriting? At the Scottish Storytelling Centre on Saturday, Jan 21, you can! Create and perform your own play and participate in costume making, dance workshops and music before performing in front of a live audience.
The Trial
Iconic composer Philip Glass adds his signature style to the chilling potency of Frank Kafka’s literary classic in this performance from Scottish Opera. Catch it in Glasgow’s Theatre Royal on Tuesday, Jan 24 and Thursday, Jan 26.
