The majority of visitors to the city head to Pollok Park for one thing and one thing only – The Burrell Collection.
While this amazing collection of over 8,000 artifacts is well worth adding to your “to do” list, the country park has loads more to offer and is a Southside secret treasure.

Whether just to wander the vast grounds or to visit the impressive 18th century Pollok House, it’s a tranquil spot just a few miles from the heart of the city. With 11km of woodland paths and trails to explore, the park attracts walkers while cyclists love to get muddy on the purpose-built mountain bike circuit.

At weekends, families flock to see the herd of hirsute Highland cattle and to get up close to the Clydesdale horses. Get your timing right and you can even watch the farrier fit them with brand new horseshoes and prepare them for the show ring.
Pollok House is Scotland’s very own Downton Abbey.
Built by the estate owners, the Maxwell Family, it gives a real taste of upstairs/downstairs life in the 1930s.
Upstairs, the ornate family rooms are full of period furnishings as well as the UK’s finest collection of Spanish art, including works by El Greco and Goya. Downstairs, enjoy a tasty lunch spot with The Edwardian Kitchen and see the harsh realities of running a stately pile in the the servants’ quarters.
There are a wide range of events held in the park all through the year – everything from orienteering to farmers markets.
